General Election - Week One E-mail

So a General Election has been called. This week the campaigns have been dominated by the increase in National Insurance. It's generated a circular argument whereby each party is triggering repetitive responses from the others whenever they mention the subject. Clearly the power of the Marketing Folk at work here. I doubt any candidate is allowed to have an individual idea now. In other news: the first leaflet has arrived. It's from the Lib Dems and features paragraphs which consist entirely of one sentence each.

Over the weekend, I learned, via @ruskin147’s (that’s Rory Cellan-Jones of the BBC) Twitter feed that the Conservative Party is going to launch it’s own iPhone app. Why, thought I, do they need this? What could be going on in the minds of the political élite?
